Thank you Quotes (Freddie Roots)

Fame – something that writers loathe and dream of at the same time. – Angmamangenhinyero

Sharing to you my collection of inspirational quotes that resonated much with me as a writer.

We’re all entitled to this identity as writers. After all it doesn’t mean that you have to be a published author or a well-known novelist in order to be accorded with this title. We all bleed ink, whether it’s a digital ink, actual ink or a figurative one.

I’m no stranger to the blues and frustrations of being one. I admit at one point I believed that to be called a writer/blogger, one should have at least 20 likes and a minimum of 35 comments in each post. This is not to put my fellows in a bad light or something. I know and follow some amazingly talented, witty, and funny bloggers (see bottom right “Rock and Roll Hall of Famers”) and I am friends with a few. Glad to be bounded with bloody ink with them. And neither do I solicit any sympathy. I’ve been blogging for 3 years now (an old soul yet a late bloomer at that) and have received but a bit of views and comments compared to those with colossal stats, but I believe I’ve made very meaningful interactions while touching a handful of souls along the way. Not bad Angmamangenhinyero, not bad at all.

When feelings of inadequacy set in, when I doubt if what I share the world is something valuable or not, I turn to quotes. When I want to be entertained, I read them. When I want to learn, I ponder upon them. When I want to laugh, I do so with their witty lines.

Thank you ancients for your words of wisdom. When I thought about calling it quits, you didn’t quit on me. And I did not.

And please don’t quit on the fellow writers who need to read these (specially the last one :-D)…

The most beautiful things are those that madness prompts and reason writes. – Andre Gide

Write while the heart is in you… The writer who postpones the recording of his thoughts uses an iron which has cooled to burn a hole with. – Henry David Thoreau

You don’t actually have to write anything until you’ve thought it out. This is an enormous relief, and you can sit there searching for the point at which the story becomes a toboggan and starts to slide. – Marie de Nervaud

Shut up and get on with it. – Helen Simpson

Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart. –William Wordsworth

You know, what may appear from a distance as success is really, closer up, a series of failures punctuated by occasional achievements…. You’ve got to be stubborn about it, keeping faith with your work in spite of all the distractions and the people around you who don’t understand the value of what you do…. So no excuses. Just write. — Wesley McNair, Poet Laureate of Maine

If you don’t say what you want, what’s the sense in writing? – Jack Kerouac

Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to continually be part of unanimity. -Christopher Morley

In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure. – Bill Cosby

And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt. – Sylvia Plath

There is a zone to writing. It takes some effort, some hours of struggle to reach, but once you’re there, the words flow as if from a spigot. Thoughts fill up the page. Your fingers function independently of your body and brain as you tap out the poetry. It’s the groove that baseball hitters speak of. The hot hand that basketball players relish. It is that sweet moment in a race car when everything slows down despite the speedometer reading 175 miles per hour. Everything doable in life has a zone like this. Find it and get into it. – Joe Kita

There are thousands of thoughts lying within a man that he does not know till he takes up the pen and writes. – William Makepeace Thackeray

Detail makes the difference between boring and terrific writing. It’s the difference between a pencil sketch and a lush oil painting. As a writer, words are your paint. Use all the colors. – Rhys Alexander

Every reader finds himself. The writer’s work is merely a kind of optical instrument that makes it possible for the reader to discern what, without this book, he would perhaps never have seen in himself. – Marcel Proust

Men of strong minds and who think for themselves, should not be discouraged on finding occasionally that some of their best ideas have been anticipated by former writers; they will neither anathematize others nor despair themselves. They will rather go on discovering things before discovered, until they are rewarded with a land hitherto unknown, an empire indisputably their own, both right of conquest and of discovery. – C. C. Colton

Author: The Romantic Alpha

Aside from physical and intellectual strength, a man is also given a heart to feel and share love and value. Dive into the mind of the alpha, feel his heart beat, and let me carry you with my strong yet gentle hands. I'm continuously innovating myself to be a better man, husband, father, friend, and structural engineer. Love's not overrated. The world needs the true essence of which.
